a glimmer into the life of a mum who loves fashion, decor and prosecco

Matthew Williamson

I have always loved Matthew Williamson. He is so clever with his colors, patterns and prints.  And he is not to shabby to look at either.

"Born in Chorlton, Manchester in 1971, aged seventeen, he won a place on the Fashion and Textiles course at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London. Following his graduation in 1994, he concentrated on devising his own collection, whilst working part-time for fashion companies including Monsoon and Marni. From the beginning, Williamson’s ideas have derived from a wide range of sources, both academic and intuitive. His early sketchbooks, photographs and artwork provide an insight into his working process from initial inspiration and the application of pattern, texture and colour to the finished product on the catwalk."

I fell in love with his work when I first started wearing maxi dresses a few years back - I remember always seeing these gorgeous patterned, flowy maxi dresses in magazines.  I would  furiously flip through the pages to see where I could buy it, only to find out it was a Matthew Williamson creation and about $1500 - $4000!!! and my little heart would plummet.  Just take a look at some of these summer 2011 pieces . . .

Imagine my TOTAL EXCITEMENT when I found out he was doing a line for Macy's!!!! (they launched on April 13th so I apologize if I am the last person on earth to know about this)
